Instructions
Step 1:
Insert a strand of wool into the top of the Knitting Bee until a short length protrudes from the bottom. Hold the Knitting Bee firmly between thumb and bottom three fingers with your thumb toward you. Hold the thread against the Knitting Bee with those same fingers, leaving your index finger free to loop the wool over.
Step 2:
With your free hand, hold the awl like a knitting needle and cast on by winding the wool twice with the left index finger from left to right around the first wire loop. Lift the lower stitch over the first stitch using the awl so that there is only one stitch left on the pin. Keep tension on the thread.
Step 3:
Repeat this action for the three remaining wire loops. Continue knitting in a clockwise around the loops but this time wind the thread only once around each wire loop, lifting the previous, lower stitch over the wire loop so that one stitch is left on the wire loop for the next time around. To finish, cast off as you would for normal knitting. NB: To change colour, simply tie the new colour to the end of the old and double-knit a few stiches to hide the knots inside the knitted tube.
